Though I think this one works particularly well, it's not dissimilar from a kind of thing I've done for at least 35 years. That is, when a watercolor is beginning to "go under", typically from being overworked, and there's no way I can save it by staying on the same path, I'll just lay into it very freely and see what happens. Often, it continues to spiral its way downward, getting worse and worse. A decent percentage of the time, though, I manage to wrest something out of it, often enough likely better than what may have eventuated had I stayed on the original tack.

But, as I said, I've been doing that forever.Brian Olewnickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08567239067604835372noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28154988.post-47276919086481984262009-10-07T22:14:06.139-04:002009-10-07T22:14:06.139-04:00The first rock is something of a breakthrough;amon...The first rock is something of a breakthrough;among all your work posted;including the drawings,it lacks the amateurish "flatness"...

The drawings, like the paintings are nice, and a few almost work, but there's not enough attention or feel to the weight of your lines..

BillAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28154988.post-41748709021994042522009-09-28T09:59:42.427-04:002009-09-28T09:59:42.427-04:00Thanks, Doug, Richard & Jesse. They do find their way to the backs of chairs and the like. But they're also a kind of meaningful subject matter to me so I do enjoy that along with the abstract nature of the material, the subtleties of the single color, etc.Brian Olewnickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08567239067604835372noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28154988.post-8093493606504693232009-09-28T02:01:16.089-04:002009-09-28T02:01:16.089-04:00Nicely imagined and realized, Brian.Nicely imagined and realized, Brian.jessehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05361749761580302506noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28154988.post-80568697413478516062009-09-27T19:27:27.049-04:002009-09-27T19:27:27.049-04:00Beautiful as ever Brian, I like the last, rectangu...Beautiful as ever Brian, I like the last, rectangular one a lot.

You do know though, that I am now picturing your house as one big pile of differently coloured, discarded and scrunched up T-shirts don't you?Richard Pinnellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00168522717135806763noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28154988.post-58886859929204099562009-09-27T17:16:18.947-04:002009-09-27T17:16:18.947-04:00Absolutly beautiful stuff..
